After graduating with my degree in Marketing I quickly moved to LA. I figured, this city would be nothing but job opportunities and chances to gain experience. I was right. You never have to worry about finding a job out here, just one that you LOVE. Before I found my fated path to YSN I worked a few other places. The first was business to business cold calls selling office supplies -100% commission only! Not a good idea, when just moving to a new city. Then making cold calls to get investors to 'throw money' away in the Forex market - that didn't last long. I was no good at it because I didn't believe what I was selling. Not to mention the ethics in that company seemed to be quite shaky. My next move was to the online dating industry. I worked as a customer service rep - as well as tried to upsell the users. I am much more of a help first, sell second kind of person, so my service skills were stellar, but my sales weren't much to write home about. My willingness to take on side projects and enthusiasm to excel got me promoted to a new position on the corporate side. It was my job to assist the producer in charge of one of our dating sites. I learned so much about the operations of a website, online marketing, and project management. This job seemed nice, but I began to feel that it would be awhile before I could move up again and I wasn't being challenged. While working there my roommate got a job with YSN. She expressed the vision and mission of the company and immediately I was interested. She shared with me their book 'Secrets of the Young & Successful' which made me want to be a part of them that much more! Long story short, I let her know that I would love to interview if a position became available that would suit my skill set. And the rest is history. I have been working here at YSN for almost 2 years now and have learned so much during this journey. From customer support, to client relations, product development to quality assurance, spice it up with business travel and social interactions, mix in the vision to help young people world wide and top it off with the best co-workers and company culture a Kansas girl could ask for - that right there is why I LOVE my job and appreciate the path that has brought me here!
